Bertie Precinct was formed in 1722 and form it were formed the later N.C. counties of Tyrell, Edgecombe, Northampton, Granville, Halifax, Nash, Wilson, Hertford, Martin, Washington, Orange, Vance, Franklin, and Warren. Deeds are one of the favorite research tools of the genealogists due to the wide variety of family connections found within them.
