Nikki, a lonely Northland elf, and his friend Runa the reindeer are kidnapped by a band of greedy pirates who follow a guiding star that resembles the amber stone Nikki wears about his neck. In this original Nordic tale about the origins of Santa, award-winning artist Deirdra Doan takes us on a whimsical journey from northern icescapes to desert sandscapes where Nikki and Runa ultimately meet Three Wise Men following the same star. What or who will they find? Transformation is at the heart of this imaginative tale that encourages us all to seek renewal, peace and joy in our lives. Sprinkled throughout with Nordic language and folklore, this tale is destined to be a favorite of generations to come.
