Moving to a new place can be scary, especially for a little kid! Gabriel's dad is in the army, so they move a lot. The family just arrived in a new city. Everything is unfamiliar, and it makes Gabriel nervous. There is so much to learn in this strange place. He has to make his way in a new city, at a new school, and around new friends. What will he do? What if he breaks a new rule at his new school? What if he does something silly, and all the strangers point and laugh? His fears make him angry, but he has no one to tell. All of his old friends are so far away! But to help with his anger and his fear, his mom gives him something to hope for. She says Gabriel will make new friends at his new school. He will find someone to play with-ride bikes and fly kites. He will find someone who will join him in his games. He just has to be patient; there are always friends to be made in all sorts of new places. So ... will you be Gabriel's friend?

Shabarbara Best-Everette is a graduate of the University of North Carolina. She is also the author of "You Don't Know My Story." Shabarbara is the owner of the Best Child Care Center. She is a wife and also the mother of her very own little "Gabriel."
