Rhythmic Roots - Paperback

"Rhythmic Roots" certainly explores the relationship between the lower limbs and the upper limbs, and that is a valuable skill. However, it utilizes material from musical roots, as well. I chose three different styles; a second-line groove, a waltz and some typical themes from samba music. These three feels and rhythms are certainly foundational, and they have influenced a tremendous number of composers and descendant musical styles. "Rhythmic Roots" is a title with double meaning. These inspirations and ideas are presented in rudiment style snare drum writing, with hi hat and bass drum accompaniment.
